Dorchester-born Englishman

I am a member of the human family, a denizen of earth. I was born in the year 1840, in the pleasant town of Dorchester, in the county of Dorset. My parents were honest, God-fearing people, in a humble sphere of life, and they brought me up in the fear of the Lord. Dorchester was, at that time, a small seaport, but it has since become a great and flourishing city. I was sent to school, and I learned to read and write, and cipheror, as far as the rule of three. I was taught, also, to be honest and truthful; to fear God, and to honour the king.
