My name is Matthew Marshall; I dwell in Holton, a small town in Lancashire, and my trade is that of a weaver. I take no pleasure in profiting myself in any shape whatever. I gain no profit by the thing which I do not retain; I spend no money in the purchase of any thing I do not see destroyed. I am in no shape hurtful to the least thing I can be spared; I never take any thing profitless, but in some shape or other I am hurtless.
