I am a ghost. I appear to certain persons, in order togratify their wishes, and to enable them to discover things future or secret. I can also appear of my own free will, and for purposes of amusement. In the former case, my power extends no further than to gratify the curiosity of the person I love; in the latter, I can assume any shape, and exert any degree of influence. I can render myself visible, or invisible, at pleasure; and I can pass through walls, and enter into closed rooms.
