Vanity-troubled tradesman
I am a man, in middle life, of liberal profession, but bad trade, because of my personal vanity, which has rendered me dissatisfied with any station that does not appear to others disgraceful. I am not easy to be distinguished by my back, because I think an ill shape of it would be unsupportable. I am therefore, a little uneasy in the state of my circumstances, because I cannot be heard of any other quality than a bad tradesman, and I cannot bear that.
Describes a middle-aged professional as a poor tradesman troubled by vanity and social embarrassment.
