Principal meridian
I am a principal meridian. I run through the principal meridian of Greenwich, which is five degrees east of the island of Greenwich, in the county of Middlesex, and through the principal meridian of Washington, which is seventy-five degrees west of Greenwich. I pass through the capital of every state in the Union, and through the capital of the territory of Washington. I am an imaginary line running from north to south, and I am counted from Greenwich as a standard of reference, until it is made to run through Washington, which is seventy-five degrees west from that standard.
