Personified English state
I am a member of the body politic, called the state of England, wherein I was first created, and wherein I was long kept, and wherein I have been long detained. I have been broken, and the parts of me have been dealt with separately, and I have been spoken of as if you could speak of a man and a woman, and so forth. But I was made for the whole state, and the state was made for me, and so I think I should be called "The State."
The speaker identifies as the State of England, describing its fragmentation and arguing it should be called ‘The State.’
