Englishman From London
I am an Englishman, and was born in London, in the year 1810. I have spent many years in France, and have thereby admitted an indirect recognition of the Imperial Government. I have also visited Germany, and have thereby admitted an equally indirect recognition of the existence of the Confederation. I have never been out of Europe, and have thereby implied an admission that the Continent does not comprehend the whole world. I have not hitherto committed any act which can be construed into an admission of the rights of Mahommed. I have not examined the question of religion, and therefore do not acknowledge the superiority of Christianity. I have not interfered in politics, and therefore do not prejudice the cause of liberty. I am an honest man, and an honest man does not prejudice the cause of order.
Describes an Englishman born in London in 1810 who has travelled in Europe and presents himself as honest and politically cautious.
