Thomas Smith, London reporter

I am an Englishman, and was born in London, in the year 1823. My family name is Smith, and I was christened Thomas. I was educated at private schools in London and Hertford, and completed my studies in Paris. I was intended for the legal profession, and was articles to an attorney, but, disliking the routine of an office, I relinquished the design, and became a newspaper reporter. I afterwards obtained an engagement in the literary department of a publishing house, and ultimately started, and have since conducted, the present publication. I have written several other works, and contributed to various periodicals. I am a bachelor, and live in London.
