Millennial English subject
I am a member of the English church, and a subject of the English crown. I was born in the year 1,000, and, if I live till next year, I shall be 1,000 years old. I have, therefore, almost reached the age of a patriarch, and, if I continue healthy, may hope to be a centenarian. I have, during my long life, witnessed many changes, both in the church and the state; and, if I had a desire to record them, I could, perhaps, furnish a not unamusing chronicle. But I am not a writer, and, therefore, I shall not trouble the world with my private reflections. I shall, therefore, be contented to be a mere cipher, and to be either set
The speaker describes being an English church member and crown subject, claiming an age of about a thousand years in a mostly coherent account.
