Lime becoming lime + Family of plants allied to rubbers
Paper preserving passing events
I am paper. I was formerly part of a vegetable substance, from which I have derived my name, but I have been so altered by chemical preparations, that I no longer consist of vegetable matter. I am imprinted, and thus rendered capable of preserving a record of passing events, and am therefore useful to mankind.
The asymmetric setting produces a more surprising premise than the equal-dose botanical drift: an elephant whose dried flesh, pliable skin and warmth serve human purposes, including writing. It ends as an incomplete sentence. The early paper explanation is much more coherent.
