Soldier who fights for pay
I am a soldier, who fights for pay, to defend his country from foreign enemies. I am a member of a profession, honourable in all lands, and in all times, but more especially so in times of war. I am a hired assassin to stab at the bidding of another man, for tenpence a day. I am a machine to do the work of destruction, and to help men to cut one another's throats. I am a part of the great system of murder, which is called war. I am a professional murderer, and I glory in my calling.
